Ingredients
  

  • 2 pieces green bell peppers
  • 1 large diced onion
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 lbs Ground Turkey
  • 2 Tbsp cumin
  • 3 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 15-ounce cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 can pinto beans rinsed and drained
  • 1 can kidney beans rinsed and drained
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 bunch Green onions for garnish
  • 1 cup Sour cream optional
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese optional for garnish

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a large dutch oven.
  2. Sauté green pepper, onion, and garlic for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add ground turkey and cook until just done.
  4. Add in cumin, chili powder, onion powder, and salt and cook about 1 minute, stirring continuously.
  5. Pour in tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.
  6. Stir in the brown sugar.
  7. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for about 15 minutes.
  8. Add in the pinto and kidney beans.
  9. Add the baking soda and stir until the bubbles disappear.
  10. Simmer 10 minutes more.
  11. Serve warm. Garnish with sour cream, green onion, and shredded cheese.
