Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground chicken
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 0.5 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1.5 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 ounces butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 8 ounces Frank’s Red Hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Frying Pan
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Make sure to spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray to prevent sticking. This step is crucial as it ensures your meatballs won’t fall apart when you take them off the tray.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the ground chicken, salt, ground black pepper, onion powder, granulated garlic, panko breadcrumbs, egg, and vegetable oil. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined. You want to be able to form the meatballs without them falling apart.
  3. Roll about 1 to 1 ½ ounces of the mixture into meatballs, placing them onto the prepared baking sheet. Make sure to leave space between each meatball so they cook evenly.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes. They should be cooked through and browned on the bottom, giving them that crispy texture we love.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a large saucepan, combine the butter and minced garlic. Heat over medium heat until the garlic becomes fragrant, which should take about a minute.
  6. Next, stir in the Frank’s Red Hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until the sauce is uniform and heated through. This sauce is what will coat your meatballs, adding that spicy flavor.
  7. Once the meatballs are done baking, add them directly to the saucepan with the hot sauce. Place a lid on the saucepan, and turn the heat to low. Let the meatballs simmer for a few minutes until they’re heated through. This step allows the meatballs to absorb all that delicious flavor.
  8. Remove the meatballs from heat and serve them warm. You can garnish them with some chopped green onions or blue cheese crumbles for an extra touch. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Tip 1: Store leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop.
  • Tip 2: You can freeze these meatballs after baking. Place them in a single layer on a baking sheet, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag. They will last for up to three months.
  • Tip 3: Serve your meatballs with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing for a classic buffalo wings experience.
  • Tip 4: For a different flavor, consider adding chopped fresh herbs like parsley or basil to the mixture.
  • Tip 5: Feel free to cook these meatballs in an air fryer for a crunchier texture. Adjust cooking times as necessary.
