Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • tablespoon pickled relish
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce or more, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon minced parsley for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Begin by gathering all your ingredients. You’ll need mayonnaise, pickled relish, ketchup, and hot sauce. Having everything ready makes the process easier.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, pickled relish, and ketchup. Use a fork or a whisk to mix the ingredients until they are well blended and smooth. You want to ensure there are no lumps of mayonnaise.
  3. Next, season the mixture with hot sauce to taste. I recommend starting with one teaspoon and adjusting based on your spice preference. Mix again until everything is well incorporated.
  4. If you’re using parsley for garnish, now’s the time to mix it in. This adds a lovely color and a fresh flavor that brightens up the sauce.
  5. Once everything is well mixed, taste your Salsa Rosada and adjust any seasonings as necessary. If you want it sweeter, add more ketchup. For more heat, a dash more of hot sauce works wonders.
  6. Serve immediately for the best flavor, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator if you're preparing ahead of time. It tastes even better after the flavors meld together for a few hours!

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge. It will last up to a week, but I recommend using it within three days for the best flavor.
  • Freezing: This sauce doesn’t freeze well due to its creamy consistency. Make it fresh for the best taste.
  • Pairing: Salsa Rosada pairs wonderfully with fried foods, grilled meats, or as a spread on sandwiches.
  • Herbs: Experiment with different herbs like dill or cilantro for a unique twist!
  • Spicy addition: Try mixing in some chopped jalapeños for an extra kick.
