Ingredients

  • 2 inches Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 2 large Eggs
  • ¼ cup Milk
  • 2 cups Crushed pretzels
  • pounds Chicken tenderloins
  • Dipping sauce (mustard, ketchup, or your choice)
  • Chopped fresh parsley

Equipment

  • Chef's Knife
  • Whisk
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Skillet
  • Food Processor

Method

  1. Step 1: Start by pouring about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep skillet. Heat it over low to medium heat until it reaches 365°F.
  2. Step 2: In a shallow bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon dried parsley, 1 teaspoon ground paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, and ½ teaspoon ground black pepper. Whisk these ingredients together until well mixed.
  3. Step 3: In another shallow bowl, whisk together 2 large eggs and ¼ cup of milk. This mixture will serve as the binding agent.
  4. Step 4: Next, take 2 cups of crushed pretzels and place them in a third shallow bowl.
  5. Step 5: Prepare the 1¼ pounds of chicken tenderloins. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, shake off excess flour, then dip in the egg mixture.
  6. Step 6: Roll the chicken in the crushed pretzels, pressing down gently to ensure they stick well.
  7. Step 7: Carefully place 2-3 tenders at a time into the hot oil. Fry for about 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  8. Step 8: Remove and place on a cooling rack to keep them crispy. Repeat with remaining chicken.
  9. Step 9: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Tip: I recommend using a deep-set skillet/pan or Dutch oven for frying.
  • Oven Instructions: Instead of frying, bake the chicken tenders at 350°F for 15 minutes or until light and browned on top.
  • Air Fryer Instructions: Air fry the chicken tenders at 375°F for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
