  • 6 large figs Figs thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup Blue Cheese crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon Basil minced fresh

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Chef's Knife
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Sprinkle a few basil pieces at the top of each crispy baguette slice and arrange the thinly sliced pieces of figs on top.
  3. Crumble a few pieces of cheese over the figs (more or less to your taste). Repeat with the remaining baguette slices and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 3-5 minutes just until the cheese starts to melt and the figs are slightly softened.
  5. Serve as is or drizzled with honey or balsamic reduction.

Notes

  • Use seasonal fruits: This recipe can be made with peaches, apples, pears, or strawberries instead of figs.
  • Cheese options: Brie, feta, goat cheese, or any cheese you have on hand will work beautifully.
  • Herb variations: Any herb can be used; I sprinkled a little chopped basil, but feel free to experiment!
  • Drizzle: A drizzle of honey or balsamic reduction makes an excellent finishing touch.
  • Gluten-free option: For a gluten-free appetizer, opt for homemade gluten-free bread!
