Ingredients
  

  • 14 oz. extra-firm tofu Pressed and cut into cubes.
  • 1/4 cup tamari Gluten-free soy sauce.
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar Adds tanginess.
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup Natural sweetness.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • sesame seeds For garnish.
  • sliced green onion For garnish.
  • chives For garnish.
  • red pepper flakes For garnish.

Method
 

  1. Cut the pressed tofu into about 3/4-inch cubes.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine tamari, rice vinegar, maple syrup, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir to combine.
  3. Add the tofu to the marinade and gently toss to coat. Set aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the marinated tofu in a single layer on the sheet.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, tossing halfway through, until golden brown.
  7. Serve immediately or store in a sealed container for 3 to 4 days.

Notes

  • Pressing tofu: Use a tofu press beforehand for 20 to 30 minutes or press between paper towels.
  • Marinating: The longer it marinates, the more sauce it absorbs.
  • Texture: The tofu will firm up as it cools.
  • Other additions: Consider adding ginger or hoisin sauce for more flavor!
