- Start by heating a heavy large saucepan over high heat. Lightly spray the pan with olive oil spray to prevent sticking. Once the pan is hot, add the chicken drumsticks. Sear them for about three to four minutes, turning occasionally until they are golden brown on all sides. This browning step is crucial as it enhances the flavor.
- Next, it’s time to create the flavorful glaze. Pour in the water, followed by the balsamic vinegar, low sodium soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and sriracha. Stir the mixture well and bring it to a boil on high heat. You’ll want to watch closely as the sauce starts bubbling—it should smell heavenly!
- Once the mixture is boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Let the chicken simmer for about twenty minutes. This step allows the drumsticks to absorb all the fantastic flavors from the glaze while cooking through.
- After the simmering time, remove the lid and increase the heat back to high. Allow the sauce to reduce for about eight to ten minutes, stirring occasionally. Keep an eye on it as the glaze thickens; you don’t want it to burn.
- When the sauce has reached a thick, glossy consistency, carefully transfer the chicken drumsticks to a serving platter. Drizzle the rich sauce over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well coated.
- To finish, sprinkle the chopped chives or scallions and sesame seeds on top for a burst of color and texture. Your Asian Glazed Drumsticks are now ready to be served!
