Ingredients

  • 2 tubes refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 2 packages cream cheese softened
  • 1 egg egg slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 can apple fruit filling and topping
  • 1 cup sugar divided
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Frying Pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This is an important first step to ensure your bars bake evenly. While the oven warms, spray a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, vanilla, and egg. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the mixture until it's smooth and creamy. This should take a few minutes. You want it to be fluffy, so be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl to incorporate all the ingredients.
  3. In another small bowl, mix together the remaining sugar and cinnamon. This cinnamon sugar mixture will become a delicious topping, so set it aside for now.
  4. Take ¼ cup of the cinnamon sugar mixture and sprinkle it evenly at the bottom of your prepared pan. This will create a lovely sweet layer at the base of the bars.
  5. Now, take one tube of the refrigerated crescent rolls and roll it out, pressing it into the prepared baking dish. Make sure to pinch the seams together so that it forms a solid crust.
  6. Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly on top of the rolled-out dough. Use a spatula to ensure it’s spread out smoothly, covering the entire layer of dough.
  7. Next, pour the apple fruit filling evenly over the cheesecake layer, ensuring every bite will have that delicious apple flavor.
  8. Unroll the second tube of crescent rolls and layer it on top of the apple filling. Pinch the seams again to seal it well, creating a nice top crust.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture on top of the layered bars. This will give a lovely sweet crust as they bake.
  10. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. You’ll want to keep an eye on it towards the end to avoid over-baking. The smell in your kitchen will be absolutely irresistible!

Notes

  • Storage: Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. They’ll be good for about three days, but I bet they won’t last that long!
  • Freezing: You can freeze these bars! Just wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and then in foil. They should last for up to two months in the freezer.
  • Pairing: These bars go exceedingly well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top.
  • Serving: Serve warm or at room temperature for the best texture and flavor.
  • Adjusting Sweetness: Don’t hesitate to adjust the sugar based on your preference. If you like things sweeter, add a little more!
  • Experiment: Try adding a drizzle of caramel or chocolate on top for an extra treat!
